A Palimpsest of Narrative

This body of work explores the profound and intricate connections between jewellery, and the untold stories that reside within found objects. As a medium, jewellery possesses a unique power to forge emotional bonds with its wearers, weaving a tapestry of memories and narratives that become intertwined with the essence of those who adorn it.

Objects embark on a transformative journey throughout their existence. They transcend mere materiality to acquire agency. As we trace the trajectory of these objects, a narrative unfolds—a narrative rich in nostalgia, sentimentality, and historical context. This narrative becomes a testament to the lives and experiences of the individuals who have previously owned these objects.

I am drawn to the enigmatic allure of 'lost' objects—those forsaken fragments of history that have become disassociated from their original owners and find themselves among forgotten artifacts that have become novelty items. These 'lost' objects, bereft of their historical narratives, beckon to me with a promise of new beginnings that can be translated into jewellery.

Through the act of re-inscription, I aim to breathe life into these forgotten objects. I transform them into palimpsests, where layers of history converge, overlap, and blend, crafting new narratives while still bearing the indelible traces of their origins.

Through the medium of jewellery, these adornments become microcosms, intricate landscapes, or 'miniatures' of nostalgia and curiosity. Each piece I create embodies a new narrative while preserving the echoes of its original form—a testament to the enduring power of objects to evoke emotion and transcend time.
